Binkley Parking Center changes to "pay upon entry for visitor parking".  Pay station rates for Binkley and Moody Parking Centers are $7.00 per entry, credit card only, no overnight parking.  SMU student, employee permit holders will continue to swipe their ID Card for entry.

Construction activities by the Town of Highland Park will affect the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Bishop Boulevard from Monday, June 20, until mid-August. Access to Bishop will be maintained throughout the entirety of the project.

May 9 - Campus Construction Notice

Beginning Monday, May 16, construction activities in the northeast quadrant of the main SMU campus will include fencing that will affect pedestrian and vehicular traffic.  In Area 1 , the fence will be extended to Fondren Library Center, closing the adjacent area of the pedestrian mall. This area will remain closed until the fall. Area 2 will be closed for approximately 5 weeks.  The parking lot directly north of the SAE house will remain accessible.

April 5 -Construction Notice - Dyer Street (L Lot)

Construction to replace the sidewalk on the north side of Virginia-Snider Commons will begin in the morning (Tuesday, April 5) at 7 AM. Work is expected to be complete by the end of the day on Tuesday.
To accommodate construction vehicles and material for this project, the first 30 resident parking spaces east of Hillcrest Avenue on Dyer Street must be temporarily vacated. Traffic cones with notices have been placed in front of the parking spaces that need to be vacated immediately. If you are currently parked in one of the resident parking spaces in this area please move your vehicle before midnight tonight (Monday, April 4). Vehicle that remain parked in this area will be relocate at 7 AM in the morning (Tuesday, April 5).
Alternative parking is available on the 3rd-5th floors of Binkley Parking Center (Lot C), the 2nd-5th floors of Moody Parking Center (Lot B), or all levels of Mustang Parking Center (Lot A). Also affected is SMU All University Parking along the fence on the east side of the building. Please see the attached map for details. These activities are expected to last about ten days, and are the second of three phases that will affect parking near the building.

Please note the parking area on the west side of the building remains closed, and students, faculty and staff may not park on the south side of the building. Alternate parking for vehicles with valid SMU permits on the East Campus is available on the top level only of the Everest College building at 6080 N. Central Expressway.

The City of University Park is holding an event at Burleson Park on Friday and Saturday, April 1-2, and no parking will be allowed around the park. Burleson Park is adjacent to the campus on the northeast corner of SMU Boulevard and Durham Street.Effective Monday, March 28, construction activities at Expressway Tower will affect parking availability on the southern side of the building. Also affected is SMU All University Parking along the fence on the east side of the building. Please see the attached map for details. These activities are expected to last about two weeks and are the first of three phases that will affect parking near the building.

For those who use the Fincher Building, there will be a slight modification to pedestrian traffic flow. The route to enter and exit Fincher will continue to be the south accessible entry door. However, due to construction activities, sometime between Friday, March 18, and Monday, March 21, the fencing will be moved and pedestrians will be required to travel west toward Bishop Avenue.The 2016 St. Patrick Day parade starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, and will affect SMU shuttle service.

The parade begins on Greenville Avenue at Blackwell Street and ends on SMU Boulevard at North Central Expressway. Expect SMU Boulevard and Greenville Avenue on the east side of N. Central Expressway to be closed the morning of the parade through its conclusion.

SMU Express (768) and Museum Express (743) shuttles will provide direct service between Mockingbird Station and Bishop Boulevard only. From Mockingbird Station the shuttles will continue to serve stops on the west side of North Central Expressway and along Binkley Avenue and Bishop Boulevard. There will be no other service to stops located on the east side of North Central Expressway or SMU Boulevard.

March 5 2016 - R Lot Closed During Spring Break for Maintenance - R Lot in front of the Fondren Science Building will be closed for maintenance during spring break from Saturday, March 5, through Sunday, March 13.  A new concrete island, gates and access control equipment are being installed at the entrance of the lot.  The Airline Parking Center will also be closed for maintenance during this time.   All vehicles must be removed by 6 PM on Friday, March 4, or they will be relocated at the owner’s expense.  Alternate parking for employee vehicles with R lot permits during spring break is available in the Daniel Parking Center; Q Lot on the north side of Dallas Hall; or the AUP Lot on University Blvd. and Airline Road.  


March 2016 -  The Airline Parking Center will be closed for maintenance during spring break from Saturday, March 5, through Sunday, March 13. 

All vehicles must be removed by 6 PM on Friday, March 4, or they will be relocated at the owner’s expense.   Alternate parking for vehicles left on campus during spring break is available in the Binkley Parking Center on levels 3, 4 and 5; the Moody Parking Center on levels 2 and above; or all levels of the Mustang Parking Center.

February 2016East Campus Alternate Parking Information

Alternate parking for vehicles with valid SMU permits on the East Campus is now available on the top level only of the Everest College building at 6080 N. Central Expressway.  Construction of new parking for SMU’s East Campus on East Dyer Street is expected to be complete this summer.

January 2016 - The East Campus All University Permits (AUP) parking lot is now permanently closed for construction.  Replacement parking on East Dyer Street is currently under construction but will not be completed until later this spring.   

Until suitable temporary parking or construction of the new replacement parking is completed, SMU employees and students working on or visiting the East Campus who normally park there should now park in the AUP surface parking lot at 5551 SMU Blvd. (just west of Prentice Street) or the Mustang, Moody or Binkley Parking Centers (levels 3, 4 and 5 only).   
The SMU Express (768) and Museum Express (743) shuttles provide regular service between the Main Campus and East Campus from 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday.  Please visit http://www.dart.org/riding/mustangexpress.asp  for shuttle schedule and stop location information.  


June 10, 2015 - Brand New Letters, Same Parking. You may have noticed different letters on the new parking maps for 2015-16. SMU's parking lots have been given new letters to make it easier to find one's way around campus. You will see new signage in early Fall and new letters on permits too. Parking remains the same otherwise same locations just different names. Park where you permit matches on the map.

June 8, 2015  - Permit renewals for faculty and staff on payroll deduction for parking have mailed. Your new permit should arrive in June to your home address. Your 2014-15 permit will expire on August 1st so go ahead and put the new permit on your vehicle as soon as you receive it in the mail. If you do not receive your permit in June please contact our office for assistance.

June 5,  2015 - Bishop Boulevard north of Binkley Avenue will be closed for construction activities beginning Monday, June 8. Work is expected to be completed by June 18.  The University apologizes for the inconvenience.

May 22, 2015  - Starting Monday, May 25, 2015, the intersection of Ownby Drive at Binkley Avenue will be closed to allow for the construction of the pedestrian mall extension.  This is expected to be completed by August 15, 2015. This is the first phase of the Crain Family Centennial Promenade project, which is converting Ownby, from Binkley to McFarlin, into a pedestrian mall.  The overall project is expected to be completed by April 2016.

May 6, 2015 - Beginning Monday, May 18, Bush Avenue will be closed from the south entrance to the Mustang Parking Center to Mockingbird Lane for construction activities. The project is expected to be completed and the road reopened by August 15, 2015.  Pedestrian access to the Park Cities Plaza will remain open during the construction period. Please observe all warning signs in the area.

April 24, 2015 - The construction project is expected to be completed by August 1, 2015. It will require lane adjustments for east and west bound traffic in the designated work zone near the intersection, as well as the closure of Airline Road and Bush Avenue for the entirety of the project.

During the project, one lane east bound and one lane west bound on Mockingbird Lane will be closed to allow for roadway construction in the intersection. Signs and traffic markers will identify the lane adjustments around the work zone. It is recommended that motorists use alternate travel routes to avoid traffic congestion in the area.

Pedestrians who normally cross Mockingbird Lane at Airline Road are advised to use the crosswalk at Mockingbird Lane and Abbott Avenue.
