Student DART Transit Pass Information
Students must be registered for 2012 spring semester classes in order to be eligible for the 2012 DART Transit Pass. As a benefit of enrollment at SMU, students may obtain an Annual DART System Transit Passes for a one-time charge of $5.00. Enrolled student may renew their Annual DART Transit Pass without charge when they bring their previous 2011 transit pass with them to pick up their new 2012 transit pass at the Park ‘N Pony Office. Students are required to bring their SMU ID card to complete all transactions. Annual DART System Transit Passes allow for unlimited ridership on all DART buses and trains, the Trinity Railway Express trains between Union Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station and DART On-Call and FLEX service. DART Transit Passes are valid for the calendar year, January 1st through December 31st. To apply for or renew your Annual DART Transit Pass you must submit your request using the on-line application for students. You will receive an e-mail notifying you when your new DART Transit Pass is ready for you to pick-up at the Park ‘N Pony Office.

Employee DART Transit Pass Information
Goal: To provide employees with affordable access to public transportation, to help reduce the number of vehicles on campus, and to alleviate parking demand; employees may purchase annual DART Transit Passes at the discounted corporate rate through the Park 'N Pony Office.
Employees may purchase the annual DART Transit Pass level that best meets their transit needs at the steeply discounted employer corporate rate through the Park ‘N Pony Office. The employer corporate Transit Pass rate is greater than half off the individual rate.

General Information on Employee Passes
To apply for or renew your annual DART Transit Pass, you must submit your request using the on-line application. You will receive an e-mail notifying you when your new DART Transit Pass is ready for you to pick-up at the Park ‘N Pony Office.
Pro-Ration - The cost of the annual DART Transit Pass will be pro-rated at the time of purchase based on the schedule establish by DART.
Lost/Stolen - Employees must purchase a replacement annual DART Transit Pass at the prorated cost.
Refund - Annual DART Transit Passes are not refundable. SMU employees who pay for their annual DART Transit Pass through payroll deductions will have the balance of the annual amount owed for the Transit Pass deducted from their final payroll check when they separate from the University.
Eligibility
All regular, part-time, temporary and adjunct employees and retirees of SMU and the regular employees of major contract service providers may purchase an annual DART Transit Pass at the discounted corporate rate established by DART.
Pre-Tax Payroll Deductions Eligibility: Benefits eligible SMU employees only may pay for the expense for their annual DART Transit Pass through payroll deduction on a pre-tax basis. All other SMU employees and contract service provider employees must purchase the annual DART Transit Pass at the established corporate rate with cash or check unless the contract service provider has made other arrangements for their employees.

Detailed 2012 DART Transit Pass Type, Service and Cost for Benefits Eligible Employees
Local - $312.00
Red, Blue, Green and Orange Line Trains and Local Buses. FLEX service along local service route. Local fare is valid for all bus routes except express routes numbered in the 200s. Express routes require a System fare.
System - $480.20
All DART buses and trains. Trinity Railway Express trains between Union Station and CentrePort/DFW Airport Station. DART On-Call and FLEX service.
Regional - $576.00
All DART buses and trains (except Paratransit). All Trinity Railway Express service, plus the T in Fort Worth and the DCTA in Denton County. DART On-Call and FLEX service.
Emergency Ride Home – All Transit Pass Types at no additional charge
When you have an emergency or must work unplanned overtime, DART will still get you home. Twice each quarter you have the option of taking a free cab ride home (maximum of 50 miles one-way).
Benefits Eligible Employees Who Do Not Have an SMU Parking Permit
The University will subsidize half the cost of the annual Local DART Transit Pass for full time, benefits eligible SMU employees who pay for their annual DART Transit Pass through payroll deductions and do not have an SMU parking permit and use public transportation as their usual means of transportation.
The University will subsidize an amount equivalent to half the cost of the annual Local DART Transit Pass toward the purchase of DART System or Regional Transit Passes for full-time, benefits eligible SMU employees who pay for their annual DART Transit Pass through payroll deductions and do not have an SMU parking permit and use public transportation as their usual means of transportation.
Employees that use alternative mean of transportation to commute to campus may purchase up to 5 one day scratch-off parking permits at $2 each for those occasions where the employee needs to use their car. To be eligible for the daily scratch-off parking permits the employee must not possess a valid SMU parking permit.
