Winter Weather Advisory
A winter weather advisory is in effect for the DFW area through Saturday. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing with freezing rain, sleet, and snow a possibility.
Facility Services has enacted their Winter Weather Plan. Priority routes to be cleared following the end of the winter event are:
- Residence Halls to Umphrey Lee (RFoC)
- Umphrey Lee to Fondren Library Complex
- Residence Halls to Dedman Center for Lifetime Sports
Once these routes are cleared, Facility Services will move to the remaining walkways and streets. Please note that during the weather event, Faciltiy Services will work to clear paths of standing water or slush accumulation, and will use ice melt as appropriate. Please be aware that ice melt is ineffective in temperatures colder than 20 degrees F, and will not be spread if it is raining.
Use caution during this time. Dress warmly, walk slowly, wear heavily treaded shoes, and only walk on cleared paths. Use handrails as you walk up and down stairs, and wipe your feet thoroughly on walk-off mats upon entering buildings.
If you encounter icy areas or wet interior entryways, please call the Service Response Desk at 214-768-3494. Facility Services will prioritize and respond to all calls and work orders received at the Service Response Desk. Please avoid calling your Zone Manager or Zone Technicians for weather related concerns - we would like for them to be focused on inspecting the campus and responding to dispatches from our Service Response Desk.
