Dallas Hall, the University’s first building, is the centerpiece of the Main Quad and the symbol of SMU’s academic and intellectual life. The building is named for the citizens of Dallas, who joined church officials in 1911 to establish a new university. Opened in 1915, Dallas Hall now houses classrooms, meeting rooms and faculty offices for Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences.
