“Dallas and the University” Address

In this 1915 address given prior to the opening of SMU, President Hyer reflected on the University’s story, the outpouring of financial support received, and the final push to prepare for student enrollment. Concerning the quality of construction, President Hyer stated: “Architects, contractors, and workmen are all agreed that Dallas Hall should last for a thousand years.”
