This is the earliest printing of the Psalms in Urdu, based on a translation by Mirza Muhammad Fitrat with revisions by Thomas Thomason and Daniel Corrie. The work was printed entirely in Arabic at the Mission Press in Serampore for the publisher, the Calcutta Auxiliary Bible Society.   The Bridwell Library copy is bound in the publisher’s two-tone Cambridge style binding with a contemporary spine label inscribed “Persian Psalms” and “Calcutta Auxiliary Bible Society” stamped in blind on the upper cover.
