Sacrosancta theologia universa is the first and only edition of this exegesis of Christian symbolism published by Discalced Carmelites. The engravings by Johann Andreas Pfeffel (1674–1748) contain symbolic details often enhanced with textual labels and references. Each image is accompanied by several letterpress pages which reproduce and reorganize the engraved text in a larger and clearer layout to aid readers in interpreting the symbols.
