* Donors as of February 20, 2014. Gifts from classmates made between January 1 and December 31, 2014 will be included in these numbers.
The annual giving rate is a significant part of the formula used to determine ranking in publications such as U.S. News & World Report. A high ranking helps SMU attract the best and brightest students and faculty, thus increasing the prestige of this great University.
- An annual gift of any size each and every year indicates alumni’s vote of confidence and symbolizes their inspired gratitude for their experience at SMU.
- When measuring alumni giving participation, a $100 gift counts the same as a $1 million gift. Gifts to any area of SMU count as reunion year gifts and are part of The Second Century Campaign totals.
- Because SMU’s base of support has been lower than its peers, the Board of Trustees has set a goal of SMU’s Second Century Campaign to focus on annual support. By 2015, SMU hopes that 25% of its alumni will consistently make annual gifts.
