Check out the Hilltop in full bloom
SpringFest is one of the best times of the year to visit SMU, especially if you're at the beginning of your college search process. The weather's warm (but not too warm), flowers are blooming everywhere you look, and there's always something going on.
Join other high school sophomores and juniors and their parents for a full day's sneak preview of college life. Informal group sessions and workshops let you ask all the questions you want and give you the inside scoop on how to apply, prepare your application and make the decision to apply to SMU.
A $25 fee for students, to be paid upon arrival, covers breakfast, lunch and an SMU T-shirt. Family members are included at no charge.
Learning and leadership
SMU offers more than 100 majors, and there are about 180 campus organizations that let you get involved and build your leadership skills.
Consider the numbers
The ratio of students to faculty can be crucial. SMU’s student-faculty ratio is 11:1. Typically, the smaller the ratio, the more personal attention you can expect to receive from your professors. SMU’s undergraduate enrollment is 6,240, and 60 percent of undergraduate lecture sessions have fewer than 25 students.
The story on scholarships
At SMU, nearly 80 percent of first-year students receive some form of financial assistance – ranging from merit- and need-based scholarships to grants, part-time jobs, payment plans and/or loans.
Location, location, location
SMU is in Dallas, in the heart of the Sun Belt, so you’ll enjoy warm, sunny weather most of the year. Dallas also is a cosmopolitan city that can enrich your SMU education with its fascinating cultural life, variety of business opportunities and international connections. Come see for yourself.
