Distinguished  Speakers

Experts available to the community have included President George H.W. Bush, Colin Powell, Tony Blair, Bill Moyers, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Jane Goodall, through such programs as the Willis M. Tate Distinguished Lecture Series, Hart Global Leaders Forum and John Goodwin Tower Center for Political Studies.

Internationally Renowned Museum

The Meadows Museum houses one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Spanish art outside Spain, with works dating from the 10th to the 21st century by such artists as El Greco, Velázquez, Goya, Picasso and Miró. The museum presents outstanding special exhibitions and educational programming. A new partnership with Madrid’s Prado Museum includes the loan of major paintings from the Prado and an internship exchange.

George W. Bush Presidential Center

SMU is home to the new George W. Bush Presidential Center, housing the Library and Museum and independent Institute. Opening in May 2013, the Bush Center will be a valuable source of research materials and is already sponsoring programs for scholars, students and visitors. SMU students also have opportunities to pursue internships at the Bush Center, and SMU faculty are participating in symposia and research projects.
