Distinguished Visitors – Speakers available to the community have included President George H.W. Bush, Colin Powell, Tony Blair, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Jane Goodall, through such programs as the Willis M. Tate Distinguished Lecture Series, Hart Global Leaders Forum and John Goodwin Tower Center for Political Studies.
Internationally Renowned Museum – The Meadows Museum houses one of the finest and most comprehensive collections of Spanish art outside of Spain, with works dating from the 10th to the 21st century by such artists as El Greco, Velázquez, Goya, Picasso and Miró. The museum presents outstanding special exhibitions and educational program- ming for youth and adults. A new partnership with Madrid’s Prado Museum includes the loan of major paintings from the Prado and an internship exchange.
George W. Bush Presidential Center – SMU is the site of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, consisting of a library, museum and independent institute. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in November 2010 for the center, which is expected to open in early 2013. The center will be a valuable source of research materials and programs for scholars, students and visitors.
