The 2016 U.S. News & World Report ranks SMU #56 out of 310 best national universities, the second highest ranking in Texas.

Forbes ranked SMU 131 out of 300 schools in its Best Value Colleges review published in 2016. The rankings are based on five general categories weighted in the order of quality, drop-out risk, graduation time, alumni salaries and skills, and each school’s gross tuition and fees. In other recent ratings, Forbes has ranked SMU 116 in “Top Colleges”, 52 in “Research Universities” and 23 in the South.

Conde Nast Traveler

Conde Nast Traveler ranked SMU #6 in 2016 of “The 20 Most Beautiful College Campuses in America.”

College Rank Top 25

College Rank named Perkins Chapel at SMU 16 out of 25 of the nation’s most beautiful college churches and chapels. The rankings were based on factors including student programming, campus architecture and aesthetic, tradition and history in addition to community outreach.

Latino Leaders Top 50

SMU is included among the 50 “Best Schools for Latinos” in Latino Leaders magazine’s 2016 print edition. The Top 50 schools were based on institutional information provided by universities, along with independent sources like the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), joined data by U.S. News and World Report and other reporting agencies.

The Center for World University Rankings once again this year placed SMU among the top 15 percent of 1,000 universities worldwide.

Forbes Global 2000

SMU ranked No. 142 overall and No. 27 in the alumni employment category, which is assessed by the number of alumni who have held CEO positions since 2011 at the world’s top 2,000 public companies listed on the Forbes Global 2000 list.

The Economist

The Economist ranks SMU Cox #7 in the world for faculty quality in 2016. The publication also ranks Cox #22 in the world for potential to network, and among the top 30 schools in the world for breadth of alumni network, alumni effectiveness and faculty quality.

LinkedIn analyzed millions of alumni profiles to identify the percentage of alumni who have landed investment-banking jobs at top investment companies. SMU ranked #25 nationally, with 70,800 students on LinkedIn.

Best Business Schools for Return on Investment

Forbes ranks SMU Cox #31 in the nation in its biennial ROI rankings of best business schools for MBA return on investment in fall 2013.

Ten Colleges with the Highest-paid Psychology Graduates

College Factual cited SMU’s small class sizes and research focus, among other factors. Psychology graduates at SMU have the potential to earn the highest mid-career average salary of $109,000. SMU also is ranked as the third best university in Texas.

    Dedman School of Law ranked #18 in its July 2014 feature on the best law schools for employment based on the School’s 93.2% employment rate for the Class of 2012, according to The National Law Journal.

    Dedman ranked #22 for graduates of the Class of 2013 employed in long-term, full-time jobs requiring bar passage. SMU ranked #26 among law schools that placed the highest percentage of their Class of 2013 into jobs at the nation’s top 250 law firms.

National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense Education

Lyle School of Engineering received a new designation for cyber security. The University has been re-designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense Education through 2021.

The National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security jointly sponsor the academic program, which works to reduce the vulnerability of national information by encouraging higher education and research. SMU first received the designation in 2006.

10 Best Colleges for Dance Performance in the U.S.

SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts ranks #6 on the list of 10 Best Colleges for Dance Performance in the U.S., compiled by zoomtens.com. It cites SMU’s strong academic program and excellent training in ballet and jazz, calling it "a premier college for aspiring performers throughout the globe."

Best Music Programs in the U.S.

SMU's music program ranks best in the nation by U.S. by College Factual, as published in USA Today College. College Factual cites Meadows School of the Arts for its financial aid, number of music majors, individual attention to students and focus on "fostering artists' abilities as both musicians and community influencers in a concentrated environment."
