Libraries and Special Collections

The University’s 10 libraries house the largest private collection of research materials in the Southwest, with nearly three million volumes. Main libraries include:

Fondren Library Center - SMU’s largest library has a general collection of nearly two million volumes.

Bridwell Library - The theology school library houses one of the nation’s finest religious studies research collections and outstanding collections of rare books, Bibles and manuscripts.

Underwood Law Library - The law school library is the largest private law library in the Southwest.

DeGolyer Library - DeGolyer is devoted to Western Americana, Texana, the U.S./Mexico borderlands and railroad and business history.

Hamon Arts Library - Hamon houses materials on various art forms, including the G. William Jones Film/Video Collection and Jerry Bywaters Special Collections focusing on art of the Southwest.
